Welcome
Welcome to the home for the Blue Knights Indiana Chapter 2 on the web.

The BLUE KNIGHTS® is a non-profit fraternal organization consisting of active and retired law enforcement men & women who enjoy riding motorcycles.

In the Spring of 1974, several law enforcement officers* from the Bangor, Maine (USA) area met and and formed a small, local motorcycle club.  The rest, as they say, is history.

Soon, Blue Knight chapters were being formed in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and beyond.  With the addition of Canada, and later Australia, the Blue Knights became an international organization.

*Our Founding Fathers are: Joel Rudom, Bill Robinson, Doug Minor, Ed Gallant, Mike Hall, Chuck Gesner, Wayne Labree, Chuck Shuman

As of  January 2007, we have over 20,000 members in 586 chapters in 28 countries!

Many Blue Knights work long and hard to raise money for various charities.  Especially near to our hearts is helping children.  Turnstone, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Toys for Tots,  D.A.R.E., and Concerns of  Police Survivors are some examples of our favorites.

As of January 1, 2008  Blue Knights have donated to numerous charities; contributing time in the amount of  164,980  man hours (@20 per hour)  goods with an estimated value of  $571,830.89 and $5,344,537.88 in cash for a total of $9,215,968.77  (USD)

We're the good guys!

The Blue Knights is a family fraternity.  Spouses and children often accompany our members to the various rides and functions.  When traveling, local members can provide assistance, directions and sometimes a place to stay.  We are truly a family.

Among the Blue Knight members,
        "
There are no strangers, only friends you haven't met"

For all the history buffs, our Chapter was Chartered on September 3rd 1993. We were the last chapter to assume a previous chapters number. Our Charter members were mostly transfers from Indiana I in Muncie Indiana.

Our 10 charter members were:

A.J. Barile, Joe Householder, Robert Kirby, Bill Michael, John Knoll, Ed Offerman, Sam Quate, Scott Roberts, Mike Vaughn and Kevin Zelt.

Newsletter

August, 2008

Hello brothers and sisters of the knighthood.  Sorry this newsletter is getting to you so late.  With getting older and so much to do, it is getting harder to find the time to get everything done.

I know we have not had very many events or rides this year, but we have some scheduled for the upcoming months.  Starting off with the HOG day ride to the Hicksville Nursing Home on August 30th.  We will be meeting at 37 & I-469 in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 12:30.  This will include free lunch and a chance to show off our bikes to the residence that love to hear the roar of the engines.  Please contact me ASAP if you plan on attending so we can inform them approximate number of people so they can plan for lunch.

We had a small turnout for the meeting this month and it was voted on that we will not be having a poker run this year.  I am planning on contacting Texas Roadhouse about having another bike night to help raise money for our Chapter and charities.

Unfortunately Cindy and I were unable to ride in the Teddy Bear run.  We took a vote at our meeting and will be donating money towards this worthy cause.  We also all agreed upon donating to member Curtis VanOver for his poker run that benefited his father.  A donation will also be made to a member of Illinois Chapter 14 (Jon Brough) that was shot in the face in the line of duty to purchase a bike to go with a trike kit he had won.

We do have a former member, Brent Roddy that has purchased another bike and would like to rejoin the Blue Knights and like always, we are happy to welcome members, former or new.

Bailey's has hung up our patch collage in front of the window near the front door.  Next time you are there take a look.

The end of this year once again brings elections, not just for the country but for the Blue Knights also.  Please consider someone or yourself running for one of the office positions.  The positions are:  President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Road Captain and Sergeant of Arms.  I will not be running for re-election.  I have had the honor of being President for four years and I think it is time for new ideas to promote and run our Chapters name and organization.

Before you know it, our Christmas party will be right around the corner.  If you would like to help out or have any suggestions, please contact me.

If you have recently changed address, phone number or email address, please inform me so I can update our files.

In closing I would like to wish the following people a happy or belated birthday for the months of July and August:

Frank Casagrande, Art Draudt, Vicki Brown, Kirsten LaSalle, Julie Kelly, Dawn Fuhrman, Tom Smith, Christian Harlan, Cindy Roos, Lynne Schuller and
Bob Wilcox.
